Join us in Amsterdam for the Three Crosses, One Wave International Water Polo Tournament 2026 — an international LGBTQ+ water polo tournament celebrating community, pride, and sport.
Amsterdam calls. This year, we gather under the Three Crosses of the city, and move as One Wave — a weekend where competition meets connection, and celebration honours the journey that brought us here.
Marking 30 years of LGBTQ+ water polo in Amsterdam and 10 years of Amsterdam Waterproof as a club, this special edition invites teams from across Europe and beyond to come together in the spirit of Amsterdam: open, diverse, and connected.
For this tournament, we’re redefining what the three crosses of Amsterdam stand for: resilience, community, and solidarity — the values that have shaped this community for decades, and the people who built it, trained it, and held space for each other in and around the pool.
The wave stands for momentum: an opportunity to reflect on the progress that has been made, honour those who helped build this community over the past three decades, and inspire future generations of players — from experienced competitors to first-time participants. Everyone is welcome.
Three Crosses. One Wave. Expect exciting matches, social events, and a vibrant atmosphere. Come play, connect, and celebrate with us in Amsterdam!

- Or reach out to us via email at amsterdamwaterproof@gmail.com.
Sport:
- The tournament will include four levels (beginner, recrea-chill, recrea-comp and competitive) – so no matter your level, you are welcome!
- Sloterparkbad has 2 pools we will play in, tribunes for the fans to watch the games, and a café area to rest and relax.
- The tournament will include two full days of waterpolo (from morning to late afternoon) on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November.
- More information will follow on the number and composition of the teams, schedules of the games, and other relevant rules.
- We will be inviting our Amsterdam friends – local non-LGBTQ+ clubs we often play with – to participate in the competitive level.
Tickets & registration: Registration has now closed for athletes. You can still purchase tickets to the socials for +1s on the ticketing platform.
- Bringing a +1? You can purchase the Social Splash Pass which included access to the pool as well as lunches, coffee and drinks and snacks just like any other participant. For the Friday and Saturday evening programmes, please purchase additional +1 tickets separately on the ticketing platform.
Socials: We all know the magic of tournaments happen just as much in the pool as on the dance floor. Amsterdam Waterproof is organising a range of social events during the tournament. If you’re an athlete, access to all events is included in the registration. For +1s, separate tickets are available to purchase.
- Registration event on Thursday 19 November.
- A Friday dinner and party with all of our waterpolo community.
- A Saturday party combining the European LGBTQ+ Water Polo and Volleyball communities into one giant celebration. Our balls look similar, so why not mix on the dancefloor?
- A Sunday brunch to close the weekend (to be confirmed)
Accommodation:
We recommend booking hotels as early as possible. Consider hotels near the pool location (in Nieuw-West, Osdorp areas) for convenient access to matches, or near central transit hubs for the evening social events.
