In celebration of WorldPride in Amsterdam, Sport Pride Foundation, KNZB, Amsterdam Waterproof, and Pride Amsterdam organised on the 31st of July a Beach Water Polo tournament at the Marineterrein, in the centre of Amsterdam. Beach water polo is a faster variant of regular water polo. In addition to the tournament itself, there were also clinics provided by goalkeepers from Team NL, including the currently best female goalkeeper in the world, Laura Aarts.
The theme of WorldPride, Unity, is central to this tournament. We were proud to show that LGBTQ+ teams and athletes are at the heart of society and are an inseparable part of it. Water polo teams and players from outside the LGBTQ+ community were also explicitly welcome during the event and joined us with several teams to celebrate our sport and our togetherness.

In het kader van WorldPride in Amsterdam organiseerden Sport Pride Foundation, KNZB, Amsterdam Waterproof en Pride Amsterdam een beachwaterpolotoernooi op het Marineterrein in het centrum van Amsterdam. Beachwaterpolo is een snellere variant van regulier waterpolo. Naast het toernooi zelf waren er ook clinics van keepers van Team NL, waaronder de momenteel beste vrouwelijke keeper ter wereld, Laura Aarts.
Het thema van WorldPride, Eenheid, stond centraal in dit toernooi. We waren er trots op te laten zien dat LGBTQ+-teams en -atleten een integraal onderdeel van de samenleving vormen. Waterpoloteams en -spelers van buiten de LGBTQ+-gemeenschap waren ook van harte welkom en vierden samen met verschillende teams onze sport en onze saamhorigheid.
